2024 was a year which had a lot of photography highlights for me. One which was unexpected at the beginning of the year was to shoot a large amount of figure skating.
Throughout the year that included:
- The Oceania Figure Skating Championships
- Winter Skate 2024
- Spring Gala 2024
- The Victorian Figure Skating Championships
- Australian Figure Skating Championships

Each of these events were held at the O'brien Icehouse in Docklands - a terrific venue for an event - and culminating in the Australian Figure Skating Championships in December.

I've been fortunate to photograph the Victorian Figure Skating Championships for several years now, and I've enjoyed seeing many familiar face at the Victorian events. (To the Victorian figure skating community, thanks for always making me feel welcome).

This year I was fortunate to also photograph the Oceania Championships and the Australian nationals championships. It was terrific to be able to shoot the very best figure skaters in Oceania and in Australia. As someone who doesn't ice skate regularly (not since I was in my teens!) it is quite amazing what the skaters can do, particularly the aerial and athletic moves.
While 2024 seems to have passed quickly, the figure skating events were a highlight - and I'll look forward to the opportunity to photograph more of them in 2025 and beyond.
